About North Road Bloodstock
North Road Bloodstock was created for people who take pride in the animals they keep, the work they do and the way they present themselves.
The idea began in the pigeon loft.
I came into pigeon racing later in life, having studied Zoology at the University of Exeter before building TrigJig, a British premium hand tool company. I have always been fascinated by animals, breeding, selection and competitive sport, and pigeon racing brought all of those interests together.
What surprised me was how little purpose-designed clothing existed for the people actually involved in the sport.
Other traditional pursuits have evolved. Shooting, equestrian sport, sailing and country life all have clothing that combines function, durability and style. Pigeon racing had largely been left behind.
I wanted to change that.
Clothing made for the way we actually work
Anyone who handles pigeons or livestock knows that ordinary clothing is rarely ideal.
Bloom, feather dust, hair and animal fibres cling to fabric. Claws catch in loose weaves. Clothing gets rubbed against timber, wire, baskets, gates and machinery. It needs to be hard wearing, comfortable and practical, but there is no reason it cannot look good too.
That thinking led to the first North Road Handling Jacket, designed with tightly woven, wipeable handling panels, practical storage, antimicrobial treatment and a warm quilted lining.
But North Road Bloodstock is about much more than one jacket.
I want to create clothing for every part of life around animals: rugged, practical garments for the loft, yard and field, alongside smarter casual clothing for loft visits, basketing days, shows, events and the more public-facing side of the sport.
Everything should feel considered, durable and premium.
Not industrial workwear.
Not fashion pretending to be functional.
And not simply a logo added to an ordinary garment.
Born on the North Road
The name has personal meaning too.
Before I owned a racing pigeon, I learned about the famous race from Lerwick and decided I wanted to win it one day. I gave myself thirty years.
Five seasons after starting, I became a King's Cup winner, with my pigeons finishing 1st, 2nd and 7th Open from Lerwick. I had also won major North Road races from Perth and Dunbar in the seasons before it.
What made the Lerwick result especially meaningful was that much of my team was built around the bloodlines of a good friend who had spent nearly eighty years breeding and racing pigeons.
That is what Bloodstock represents to me: generations of selection, knowledge and good stock built patiently over time.
And North Road represents the tradition, competition and journey that gave the brand its identity.

North Road Bloodstock may have been born in pigeon racing, but it is designed for a much wider world.
